Dr. Chambers’ research interests focus on biosensors, influenza epidemiology, and Francisella tularensis. He seeks to understand the processes that make it possible to development new and novel treatment regimes, with special regard to treatments for illness associated with F. tularensis. Dr. Chambers’ current research focus is the interaction of host tissue nonspecific Alkaline Phosphatase and F. tularensis dnaK. Like many microbes, F. tularensis has evolved specific physico-chemical interactions with host proteins which affect the host’s ability to neutralize the pathogen. Understanding these processes makes possible the development of many new and novel treatment regimes.
